Introducing: Children’s Trust of South Carolina

Over the years, Grace Outdoor has greatly enjoyed working with Children’s Trust of South Carolina, and we recently had the opportunity to sit down with Brittany Crowley, the Community Relations Manager, to ask her a few questions about the organization and their marketing.
What exactly is Children’s Trust?
“It’s a state-wide organization focused on the prevention of child abuse and neglect across South Carolina.” Crowley explained that they do not work directly with children and families but that they support the various partnerships that work on training, researching, and advocating. These partnerships equip parents and professionals with the knowledge, skills, and resources that they need to help children grow up happy, healthy, and safe. “We also invest in programs that provide home visits for new moms, strengthening families programs, and Triple P (The Positive Parenting Program). We also lead the state’s efforts for Family Resource Centers, Kids Count, and Child Abuse Prevention Month each year.”
Children’s Trust is a 501(c)(3) quasi-governmental organization. Crowley explained that Children’s Trust was created by the legislature, which gives them access to state funding, federal funding, and also some funding from grants, along with individual donors.
“When it comes to marketing, the organization’s goals depend on the project or initiative that they are currently working on. In this case, with Child Abuse Prevention Month, our goal is to bring awareness to primary prevention. We do this each April, and it’s a country-wide initiative, but Children’s Trust coordinates it for South Carolina.”
Children’s Trust has three main goals when marketing: raising awareness, connecting people, and building responsibility. They believe it’s everyone’s responsibility to prevent abuse and neglect, and so their audience is really everyone—the general public, service providers, decision makers, and community-based organizations. Secondly, they connect families with resources and programs and events that are available to them within their communities across the state. Thirdly, Children’s Trust builds connected communities through community activities and gatherings that take place not just during April but all year long.
This is where Grace Outdoor comes in: Billboard advertising allows Children’s Trust to amplify their message and awareness campaign across the state. While their office is in Columbia, Children’s Trust serves the entire state. Billboards reach all South Carolina audiences, especially those in more rural communities. Billboard advertising gives Children’s Trust a concrete, physical presence in otherwise hard-to-reach areas.
If you’re interested in supporting Children’s Trust in their mission, you can share the scparents.org website with parents and caregivers throughout the state. Children thrive when families are strong, and we believe families thrive when communities support them!
